This camp is an intense and thorough review of the fundamentals of amateur ice hockey officiating. The camp establishes the existence within each participant of a practical understanding and a consistent application of the fundamentals of ice hockey officiating as recommended by the USA Hockey Officiating Program. These areas include positioning, rules knowledge and game management. This camp focuses on instructing the fundamentals and reinforcing all of the basic techniques an official needs to manage all levels of amateur hockey. Supporting areas of instruction will include skating technique, physical conditioning and mental preparedness.

March 15, 2018 - DEADLINE FOR ALL APPLICATIONS
Educational in nature with an emphasis on skill development and providing officiating resources needed to successfully officiate all levels of grassroots hockey and advancement to higher levels of officiating. Games taking place will consist of the top 14 or 15 year old players within that geographic region.
Lecture, Power-point presentations, discussion groups, pop quizzes and rules exams. On-ice sessions focus on USA Hockey Officiating Program approved game positioning, power skating and overall on-ice officiating techniques and procedures.
All participants must be USA Hockey members who are between 18-28 years old. Applicants must actively officiate and have the desire to develop their personal officiating skills. The should be willing to share learned information with other officials in their local area and take a positive approach to successful officiating with a professional attitude.
Applications will be reviewed and participants selected by the Officiating Program Staff with input from the USA Hockey Referee-in-Chief, District Referees-in-Chief, Instructors and Local Supervisors. Participants will be selected on the basis of their hockey officiating ability, personal character, conduct, school record and ambitions. Every effort will be made to place the participant in their preferred camp location, but USA Hockey reserves the right to place the official in an alternate location due to availability.
A $90.00 Administrative Fee, per participant, will be billed to each participant upon acceptance. This fee will be due in the office prior to final confirmation. The fee is non-refundable to all selected participants. All transportation to the camp location is to be supplied and paid for by the participant. USA Hockey will supply and pay for room, board and instructors fees.

Early Morning: Off-Ice Training and Power Skating
Morning: Classroom Session
Afternoon: Classroom Session, On-Ice and Off-Ice Training
Evening: Game Experience and Evaluations
Instructors will be selected from the top American officials who are currently working in professional hockey, the NCAA or Tier I Junior Hockey. Other top instructors within the USA Hockey Officiating Education Program, including District Referees-in-Chief and Local Supervisors of Officials will also be considered.
